| 5th International Conference Singular Optics will be held in Sevastopol, Ukraine on September 16-21, 2012
Organized by: Taurida National University, Crimea, Ukraine OSA – Optical Society of America EPS - European Physical Society OSA/SPIE Student Chapter of Taurida National University |
The purpose of the conference is to provide the discussions of novel
approaches and advances in the field of singular optics, optical devices based on transformation of angular
momentum of light, high-technology applications based on singular optics and vortices, optical fiber
networks, etc. The techniques of singular optics (including fiber and nonlinear singular optics and their
applications) contribute into promising and rapidly developing area of optical information technology. Such
techniques serve for solving diverse applied problems ranging from industrial quality control to modern and
advance telecommunications, and life sciences. There exists no other conference focused just on the
singular optics approaches (theoretical, computing and experimental). That is why this conference is a
unique possibility to highlight novel concepts and developments related to the physics of optical singularities,
and to discuss the recent progress in their applications. Recent advances in trapping, transportation and
rotation of microparticles, optical-vortex cryptography, in optical transmitting and processing information will
be represented as well as conceptual problems connected with nontrivial structure of complex optical fields,
their control and manipulation.
This conference continues a chain of international conferences on singular optics: International Conference
on Singular Optics in Partenit, Crimea, Ukraine (1997) [SPIE Proc. V.3487 (1998)]; Second International
Conference on Singular Optics (Optical Vortices): Fundamentals and Applications in Alushta, Crimea,
Ukraine (2000) [SPIE Proc. V.4403 (2001)]; NATO Advanced Research Workshop "Singular Optics 2003" in
Kiev, Ukraine [JOPA: Pure & Apl. Opt., Spec. Iss., V.6, No.5 (2004)]; Fourth International Conference
"Singular Optics (Optical Vortices): Fundamentals and Applications SO'2008" in Alushta, Crimea, Ukraine
(2008) [J. Opt. A: Pure Appl. Opt. Vol. 11, No. 9 (2009)].
